This show is the band’s first appearance in London in a fully dance friendly venue and follows the release of their single Hey Eugene!
Somewhere between a 1930s Cuban dance orchestra, a classical chamber music ensemble, a Brasilian marching street band and Japanese film noir is the 12-piece Pink Martini.
Part language lesson, part Hollywood musical, the Portland, Oregon-based ‘little orchestra’ was created in 1994 by Harvard graduate and classically trained pianist Thomas M. Lauderdale, and vocalist China Forbes, to play at political fundraisers for progressive causes. Equally at home performing its romantic, multi-lingual repertoire on concert stages and in smoky bars, Pink Martini draws a wildly diverse crowd.
'An immediately moreish concoction, with their global glamour and heady romance, this could be the start of a passionate affair' METRO
'Pink Martini left its audience shaken and stirred…the packed Hammersmith Apollo danced the conga in the aisles and gave them a standing ovation' EVENING STANDARD
