Brazil Plus
Brazil Plus is an exciting new programme of two concerts combining music by well known Classical Brazilian composers with new works from several British composers, whose pieces are influenced by Brazil.
The first half of each concert will feature pianist Clelia Iruzun, with Lontano, lead by conductor Odaline de la Martinez playing in the second half.
Brazil Plus II
Includes works for strings (Lontano) and piano (solo pianist Clelia Iruzun) by Villa Lobos, Mignone and Nazareth.
The programme features Brazilian classics such as Villa-Lobos Bachianas Brasileiras no.9, and the first Modern Premiere of Villa-Lobos' Dancas Africanas (the work was lost in the 1920’s and recently re-discovered) the UK Premiere of Franciso Mignone Fantasia no. 3 for strings and piano are featured together with a selection of Classical Brazilian tangos by Nazareth - probably the first Brazilian composer to write Afro-Brazilian classical music.
New works by British composers are also featured to include music by Jeroen Speak and Drew G. Wilson.
